Family Camping Trip

Dirty But Fun! That's how I'd define our three day family camping trip to Hell's Canyon. Uncle Rhett took these incredible photos. This one is of all the cousins. Cuties! Notice that Mia is the only girl. Poor thing.

4th of July

We spent the 4th of July with family and had a wonderful time. I didn't have my camera so my sister was kind enough to take a few photos. Here's a picture of Luke, getting ready to watch the parade.
Mia had a bit of a fever and wasn't feeling her best, but she still enjoyed watching the parade with her cousin Reagan.

Leaving Texas

Well, we are on our way out of Texas. It's been a fun three years. I can't believe how much the kids have changed in such a short period of time. So I thought I'd post a few photos of just how much they've changed. Here's our blast from the past.
These photos were taken days after we arrived in Texas in 2005. We stayed on base for the first few weeks. Aren't Mia and Cole little?

We ended up living in a one bedroom apartment for a couple of months until we found a place to live. It was cramped but we made good memories there.

The Medina River

To escape the south Texas heat we headed to the Medina River for a day of swimming and fun with friends. It was so much fun. Here are just a couple of photos.

Our air conditioner was broken for a full day - probably the hottest day of the year so far. So we had to spend some time cooling off at the pool.

My Sweet Mia

On Wednesday morning, after I finished getting ready, I went down to the kitchen and found this on our kitchen chalkboard.

I was so amazed. Mia and Cole had woken up when I was in the shower and went downstairs to leave me a note. It was the sweetest thing ever. Mia can be so thoughtful when it comes to things like this. She's amazing.

Our Trip to DALLAS

Last weekend we had a mini-vacation to Dallas with our good friends and their kids. It wasn't a long trip but we had so much fun.
On the first day we went to the zoo. Dallas has a really fun zoo. We made some great memories there. The kids got soaked, were frightened by monkeys getting a little too close to the glass, and did lots of rock climbing. It was a blast.

Afternoon Excitement

After our fun filled morning at the Zoo we headed to the Galleria Mall to visit the American Girl Store and do some shopping. From the parking garage we went into Saks Fifth Avenue, and needing to go downstairs but unable to find an elevator, we decided to take our double stroller on the escalater. Dumb idea. Drew had Luke in the stroller and I was holding Cole behind him. Cole wiggled out of my arms and ran down the stairs, past Drew and the stroller to get to Jake. When he got near the bottom I had a horrible sinking feeling. So I ran past Drew too and before I could reach Cole he tripped and fell right at the bottom. The escalator steps were causing him to roll and he couldn't stop and get up. The machine sucked his little bum into the teeth at the bottom. I grabbed him as quick as I could and had to yank with all my might to get him out. It shredded his shorts and pinched his bum pretty good, but he walked away with all 10 fingers, thank goodness. I was just so glad I had inspiration to get down there. There was no way Drew could have reached him because he had the stroller. Here's the result. And I must say I got some pretty crazy stares from people in the mall, who saw me taking a photo of my boy's bum, but it's all for the sake of blogging.

Mia was beyond excited to go to the American Girl store. She even got a "Mia" doll of her very own.

After shopping for dolls we decided to ice skate in the bottom level of the mall. What a blast!!! Drew had quite a workout trying to keep Mia and Cole on their feet.

Our last day in Dallas

On the last day of our trip we went to IKEA, which is always a blast for me (not so much for Drew). Although Drew did find a cow hide for $199 and is still considering purchasing it. He's always wanted one of those. After that shopping trip we went to the old part of Dallas, where the JFK assassination took place. Here's a photo of the book depository. The gunman was perched in the top corner window (the square one). We didn't have time to see the museum but took photos of the outside. I actually thought it was a creepy part of town, but the history is interesting.

The kids were great travelers, mostly because Mia insisted on listening to Hannah Montana almost the whole way. Even little Luke was a pretty good boy on the road.

Easter Morning

Cole and Mia were so excited to see what the Easter bunny brought them. Both kids got a new Webkinz, a new movie, and lots of candy. Luke got "carrots" baby food and bunny ears. So cute.

The kids raced to find the easter eggs in the back yard. Both did a great job and had so much fun.
