My Girls

Mia loves to hold her little sister, even when Ella is screaming.  Today I found Mia sitting at the kitchen table, doing her homework while holding her little sister in her lap.  When I ask if I can take Ella to help calm her down, Mia insists, "I can do it Mom."  And sure enough she always finds a way to comfort her little sis.

Ella is my first Blonde baby.  Here's a photo showing just how blonde.  She's just a couple days old in these photos.  

Grandma and Grandpa Swasey came for a visit when she was just two days old.  They stayed for the weekend and it was great having them here.  

Ella loves it when you talk to her.  

Miss Mia has been a really big help.

7 lbs. 8 oz. 19 1/2 inches long

We were scheduled to be induced on Friday April 23rd, but Ella had other plans.  I went into labor at about 9pm on Tuesday evening (April 20th).  We got to the hospital at 1:00am and she was born at 4:05am.  Everything went well.  Drew was even able to deliver the baby, which was really exciting.  

The kids stopped by for a visit before school.  Ella was only a few hours old.  

They were so excited to meet their new little sister.  I was more than exhausted (with less than 30 minutes sleep) but still over joyed.  

I'm not sure what Luke was thinking.

My Talented Kids

Last Month Mia starred in the Spring Academy production of "Viva Las Vegas", where she played Simba from the Lion King.  She did such a great job.  Finding her costume was about the most difficult part of it.  This is the best we could do, and she looks a little like a mouse, but oh well.  She's adorable. 

Cole just started soccer for the Spring season.  Here are some photos of his first practice.  It was major Deja Vu!  Last time he played soccer I was 9 months pregnant.  Tis the season, I guess.

Here was his first game.  He has a game every Saturday until the end of May. 

The goalie gets to wear the pink shirt over their regular uniform.  He did a great job as goalie.  No one scored when he protected the goal.

By the second half of the game Cole really got into it.  Their team won 3 to 2.  Way to go Bubba!

Baby Shower

On Thursday April 8th, my best friend Kristen threw me an amazing baby shower.  I was so excited!  Not only because I had gotten rid of all my baby girl stuff years ago, but because it just reminded me of how lucky I am to have so many wonderful friends.  I really feel so blessed.  

 

We had so much fun!  Kristen decorated the house so cute!  And check out the amazing quilt she made for me.  Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of the yummy fondue she made.  Two different cheese fondues and two chocolate ones.  We sat and ate for hours!!!

I got the most adorable gifts.  I can't thank my friends enough for everything.  I have the world's best friends, that's for sure!

Last Minute Projects

So the baby is due any day now... That being said, I've been in a mad rush to finish all the projects I started. And believe it or not, I did it!!! So I'm going to stand on my soap box and brag about my accomplishments on my blog. What good is a blog if you can't brag on it, right?

Project # 1: The CLOCK
Remember the sad condition of my last clock?
Well, thanks to the help of my husband and his mad jigsaw abilities, and thanks to Amber and her help and talent with vinyl lettering, I was able to whip out a new one. OK, "whip" makes it sound easy. It did take some time, but the results are awesome. The paint was a process (about 7 layers of different colors and crackles). It was fun though and looks even better than the original, don't you think? I haven't decided if I'm going to paint the hands gold or not. Still thinking...

Project #2: A Spring camera strap. Gotta change things up for the seasons. I had some extra fabric so I made one in a synch. This was my easiest project.

Project #3: Nursing Cover with matching draw string bag

This project was super easy too, so I made 4 of them. Some for me, some as gifts. Why not!
Project # 4: A baby Quilt that is Gender Free
I felt a challenge to make a quilt for my sister (who is due two weeks after me). She doesn't know if she's having a boy or a girl, and I saw this idea and loved it. Girl patterns with boy colors. Can't beat that. It has 196 squares!!! All of them were glue sticked... yes, I said Glue Sticked to the fabric, then sewn. Throw it in the wash and it's a rag quilt to die for. So soft. I love it so much, I was tempted to just keep it for myself. The pictures really don't do it justice.
Project # 5: New Car Seat Cover - A.K.A. - "the nightmare"

This baby is said to be a girl, so Luke's car seat cover just wouldn't do. It's in perfect condition, but I just wanted it to look more "girl" since this my last baby. So I decided to make a new one. Easier said than done. Everything went well until my sewing machine decided to go on strike. I guess all the projects made it mad.
But I couldn't give up. The fabric was just too cute. So I switched to my 13 year old machine half way through the project and finished it up.

I'm crazy about brown and red lately. I love the way it turned out. The best part is, I now have a spare cover if I need one.
So I'm officially done with projects for a while. I'm going to park myself and my big belly on the couch and watch TV until this baby arrives. That's all I have energy for.
